My oneup edc tool and 100cc pump jumped off my frame on Monday morning and I’m failing to relocate it so I’m without a decent high volume pump. Tempted to replace with same but carry in my hip pack, but also wondered if there are any pumps as good as the oneup… they’re not exactly cheap.
what’s out there?
Depends how often you puncture/adjust tyre pressures when out and about but have you considered carrying a CO2 inflator? I have a track pump in the garage/car. CO2 in hip pack. OK its a few quid a cylinder but I've only used it two in 6 years. So in my estimations its worth the cost/environmental for the convenience.
Lezyne mini pumps fit lengthways in my hip pack, but you could just use a velcro strap and cinch it to your frame.
I don’t really like the co2 solution. They’ve never been sufficient in the past and I’ve had some go rusty which puts me off.
I’m partly wanting to put the pump in my pack to keep it from the weather… the oneup pump was pretty much sandblasted after three years and I’d had to replace seals twice.
I fit one of these...

In one of these...

Much better than the Lezyne it replaced that got notchy after a couple of uses. Fits in my evoc hip pack
I have one of these, gives you the option of using as either a pump or a CO2 inflator. It does exaactly speed it way through inflating a tire but it does fit in a hip pack easily.

Or the ones from Topeak.
Co2 is nice but reliable back up of the pump. It is slow to get a big tyre done but that's the price of a small pump.
Depends on size of hip pack, but I can't imagine many mini pumps not fitting in a decent size hip pack
My lezyne alloy drive fits in my Osprey Seral 7 well
I can fit one of these:

Into a Camelback Podium hip pack on an angle, so it'd easily fit into a normal hip pack that doesnt have the bottle holder on the side.

What about one of those new usb rechargable mini electric pumps?
Fumpa pump etc.
IIRC the emergency pump I've been using for my vastly increased distance/duration outdoor road rides of the past six years was a cheap freebie from Toys'r'Us when I bought a BSO ~20 years ago, they don't make things like they used to! 😆
I kept thinking I would eventually replace it with a Topeak or Lezyne mini, but ended up getting https://www.merlincycles.com/zefal-air-profil-micro-mini-road-pump-94443.html ... It's tiny and so light in comparison. Comes with a bottle cage mount that should fit under a bottle holder and a velcro strap, albeit I'm far more likely to continue using a jersey pocket.
Thanks peeps - a few options that might work and some i can probably check out at the lbs.
Lezyne pocket drive HV
Great pump and very compact, fits easily in my camelback podium hip pack
Syncros Boundary 1.5 HV.
Lever to attach to the valve rather than screwing. Short hose so much more comfortable and safer for vigorous pumping.
Topeka "gravel pump" should fit. Don't let the name put you off its has low/high pressure modes which work well with tubeless gravel and MTB tyres
I have a probably more than 10 year old lezyne mini pulp that goes in my camelback podium as above and also in a small alpkit top tube tool bag that I sometimes use. It did get notchy at one point and improved with a touch of light grease. Hardly ever need to use it since tubeless tyres got good. Never been a fan of co2.
I used to carry the biggest, baddest pumps I could. Frame pumps. Topeak Road Morph half track pump. Then I realised a Topeak Race Rocket does everything I need of it and you can literally fit it in your pocket. I've never carried anything else since.
I'd suggest getting another OneUp pump but go for the 70cc version. That'll fit in any pack and you know it's going to be top quality.
My rationale for having the 70cc pump, rather than the 100cc, is that you carry it every time you go out, but rarely actually need it. Anyways, I find the 70cc pumps up a 650b X 2.8" tyre fairly quickly. Keep a co2 canister in the pump and it's an instant job.
New EDC in the steerer with a mini-jabber in the small storage compartment and you're fully covered
The 70cc is tempting… they’re so much better than any other pump I’ve used.
I won’t go back to storing the edc in my steerer though as it’s annoying to move between multiple bikes.

Yep. I bought another carrier. Then another. Then another. Four of the bloody things now; one on each bike. In the last year, I've spent more on OneUp EDC carriers than I have on clothes :-/
