If you use a Hope bolt in hub you can just remove the bolts and the wheel comes out the bottom of the dropouts.

Failing that remove the lower caliper mount bolt slack the top one and pivot the caliper out of the way.

Stu, I'm not a 100% sure what you mean. Remove which bolts and surely the wheels can't come out of the bottom they're sliding dropouts. They're Hope M4's by the way..........

When you remove the bolts there's nothing to hold the hub in the dropout.
Used this on a Karate Monkey which has the same dropout plates as the Pug.

The Hope bolts go through the dropout and screw into the axle. When they are removed there is nothing holding the wheel in so it will drop down ok. Very useful ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW The Pugsley does not have sliding dropouts, they are trackends aka slot dropouts. Sliding dropouts have a moveable dropout which bolts to the frame.

edit: Stu beat me to it ๐Ÿ™‚

Epicyclo, Yes, sorry wrong dropout terminology. But I have axles and track nuts.

Wavey rotors gave enough clearance to get wheels out of my Avids.

Hope that didn't sound snotty. It's just that with sliding dropouts your wheel can just drop out.

I reckon you may have to loosen the calliper to slide the wheel out - depending on what size rotor you have. I've got a Hope hub on my Pug so it drops out, but when I changed the chain and had to slide the wheel back, I had to move the calliper up.

No not at all. I think I'll try undoing 1 bolt, loosening the other and lifting the caliper out of the way, it was a bit of a kerrfuffle last time.

And what's the betting that as soon as I swap wheels it'll snow

OK, wheels swapped 32 X 19 now fitted and 20 on the front.

The wheel swap went better lifting the caliper. But getting the disc to slot into the caliper was fun, but only an hour to swap wheels including getting the old freewheel off. Not bad.

Now watch it snow................
