[#2144808]

I started at the top end of Brean Sands

[IMG] [/IMG]

pedalled along to Burnham on Sea

[IMG] [/IMG]

Then when the beach ran out along the cycle track to Highbridge

[IMG] [/IMG]

then back, initially I thought the gearing was way too low, 32 X 20 but after playing in the dunes and realising I had a head wind to fight to get back, I think it was about right. It's brilliant, really hard work on soft sand and I discovered SPD and sand don't mix. I had a brill moment when I rode into mud, sank, stopped dead and couldn't get my feet out, so I fell into a pool in front of 3 bemused fishermen.

What a laugh I won't forget that ride in a hurry..............(yes I've hosed and greased it)

You've over-inflated your tyres!

We used to go on holiday to a caravan site directly behind Brean Sands.
First time we went, we wandered straight down to the beach on arrival & there was a Land Rover trying to pull a car out of the rapidly encroaching sea. I remember it being quite a regular occurrence!

Are those bikes designed primarily for those massive tyres? What does it ride like when not on sand and do those wide tyres make that much difference over perhaps some 'normal' wide tyres.

16" frame. It rides like a tractor on the road, but in a lovely way..

the (salt)worm has turned for you my friend ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
great aint it... a bit prep with some coppergrease (cables) and graphite grease (bearings) it will keep on rolling sweet...

as for better than normal tyres try riding down a sand dune on a regular bike...then a fat bike

I agree going down the dune was brill, going up however.....

Your vid was excellent, one of the reasons I bought the bike.

How do you measure tyre pressures, my track pumps guage doesn't really kick in til 20psi

Brilliant bike, great ride, curiously handsome owner (well two out of three aint bad).

Our demo pug is due soon.

Snow... there was a salelite picture of southern england when it last snowed. The only place with no snow was the swanage valley. But we hav emany dunes (and perverts) at studland.

Also great for when you dont spot curbs on teh way home from teh pub.

Penhale / perranporth sanddunes anyone... 150 foot of giggles and sweat.

Bring it on.

I asked that question about 2 days ago ๐Ÿ™‚

The answer is probably a trials bike gauge, but I haven't got one yet to see if it will work with an adapter for a Presta valve.

using DH tubes i use a motorsports gauge, reads down from 30 psi
[img] [/img]
though my track pump measures down to 0 psi and also those pencil gauges are ok...
i never adjust pressurse when out, just 2 settings,
beach; 8psi front 10psi rear
trails; 10 front 12 rear

I'm tempted to get another track pump with a guage that actually works properly. Any suggestions???

I quite like Presta valves.......
