Essentially slick 29×2.4. I’m intrigued but I just know it wouldn’t end well.

They;re really good at the thing they do, which is be a heavy but very tough commuterey tyre that also looks really good on a mountain bike. Similiar to the fat frank. (I got some 2.5 GT wheelie bike tyres to do much the same thing) They have some Hurricanes on sale too which are kind of similiar but you get a bit of side tread so they're not as good on tarmac but they're a million times better on stuff like canal paths or similiar, nontechnical rding that can get soft and slidy. Schwalbe are brilliant at this sort of thing.

Like, almost certainly they're a bad choice and everyone should be fitting a 32c road tyre instead. But they make mountain bikes look so bad, I can never bring myself to do it. And the fat slicks always make me smile when I see them, properly cartoonish.

Tektro Gemini 4-pot brake set inc 2 x 180mm 6-bolt Magura Storm HS 2.0mm rotors for £65 at Merlin

I’ve got TRP Slate EVOs on two bikes and heard these Tektros are similar but not quite as outright power. Seems a good price for a complete brake setup

I've got the Gemini's.

Good brakes, better than my 4-pot Deores in power I think, slightly less grabby, slightly wooden feeling (like a DB8), but brilliant for average MTB fun.

Yes there's better if I was racing, Alps, super gnadgery etc, but for the money....

Super Motos have awful cornering grip when tipped over to any decent sort of lean angle on wet tarmac. Almost any 25c road tyre has way more grip in the same situation. If you can honestly say you won't ever corner very leaned over then by all means fit them for their look but that "look" might not seem quite so important to you when you suddenly feel your bike slip from under you and find yourself sliding along a cold wet road on your thigh in front of  other road users on your way home from work.

Nice carbon bars for £56 at tredz, down to £51 with the usual codes they offer.  10-40mm rise favours. I've had the 40mm version for a few years and would recommend. Not mega stiff.

Salsa Rangefinder Deore 11 | Biketart

I was really tempted by this to replace my scandal and move my bits over as the salsa has rack mounts but the 141 mm QR hub put me off.

I miss the Wiggle/Chain Reaction deals, this time last year I think I had deliveries every week for a couple of months!

Keeping an eye out for a Garmin instinct 2x solar, so far the best price I've seen is £214 but a new model is due to be realised.

Hopefully the Instinct 2 range will drop when the new model is released.

50% off superstar nano with NANO50 in December. Not sure if you think they're high end enough, but I like them as much as any flat pedal I've used

@niel11 I've got my last 2 Garmin watches from this seller https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/gpsgadgets

Both brand new. One developed a fault (bezel went loose after a week, nothing the seller could have known) and I got a refund the day it was received by them.

They have stock go in and out so keep an eye out. I got a new instinct crossover for £150, about half what it is new

I'm also looking for a Solar Instinct 2. They were £199 at Blacks earlier today but I missed those. Next cheapest is £204 at Currys.

I'm planning to wait out a bit to see if they come down any more.

@cyclistm

I managed to register on Perks at work (I just picked any company on the list, my employer is not a part of this scheme) and it takes a significant amount off the RRP on the Garmin website.

They've currently got a discount code on there  for an additional 10% off but it doesn't appear to be working at the moment

Just checked PaW and the 20% discount code doesn't work either - on the Instinct 2 at least. Would get it down to £169 if it did.

More likely to be adapted from the Float X? The DPX2 was a twin-tube damper IIRC.

Great price, I'd buy one if I didn't already have a new Float X.

but the 141 mm QR hub put me off.

Appreciate it's a bit pants if you want to transfer existing QR stuff.

But you can stick a quality wheelset on using a hope or DT Swiss boost hub with QR end caps.

e.g. this one for a microspline free hub.

For those who were after the Garmin instinct 2X solar, it's now down to £182 from £340 but you need to be registered with Perks at Work to get the discount:

https://www.hotukdeals.com/share-deal-from-app/4497770

I've had second thoughts as it would look like a wall clock on my chicken leg sized wrists!

That's a pretty good price. My employer doesn't use p@w so not available to me sadly.

I think I might end up with the forerunner 55 for £129 at blacks.
