on Sat 26th Sept - I don't ride DH but trail seemed to use a couple so might make sense to ride elsewhere
they shouldn't be using the DH runs, as far as i know they aren't certified tracks
its a running event and looked like will be running up a couple of the DH runs from what i could see
yeah thats what i thought you said. but the DH runs have been cut by locals who are continually trying to stop people walking up and down them as its an accident waiting to happen.
all you need is a runner or spectator to use one of the DH runs on any other day and they'll get 40lb of bike in the face with the excuse of "well we used it on the run the other day"
sorry didn't really understand the certified tracks bit nothing in Wharncliffe is really classed as anything except the TPT
didn't really want to get into the rights and wrongs but i can see some runners coming back for another go - think route is not on more popular sections but sure will spoil a trip
Hi podge / Antigee.
It was this race that really pisked me off with the FE... for years they limited our use of the woods...we played ball and got nowt in return.. Then the mighty Saab come along, drop the FE some money and hey presto they had absolutley free reign of the woods. They did ask me to comment on the route map... I did... and it was pretty much ignored. amazing what a bit of money can do.
It was this whole race that finally (final straw) ****ED me off into not digging with the FE at Wharncliffe.
not been up there since then though I've seen a couple of pics that looked like part of the XC trail was used..
i totally agree. As much as i like wharncliffe I've started riding Walkley now as you know its going to be there next time you go.
I don't understand how the FE can be so accommodating in some places but so frustrating in others.
plus the shear cheek of saying you cant make your own tracks and then using them their selves as and when they like... they seem to be encouraging accidents on purpose.
What's at Walkley? I've never been there - I like Wharncliffe a lot, but it does need a freshen up.

Sorry, missed your reply, its a loop from Bolehills BMX track up to redmires and back

That would have been me. Happy to meet up if anyone is riding this weekend or for a night ride.
indeed that was you, i've done that loop a few times since, really enjoy it despite the climbs that kill me
