Just a word of warning for the Rivington locals. We did the descent from the car park at the top of Rivington Road from the Belmont side this morning and some halfwit had built a series of low "walls" right across the trail towards the bottom where it crosses Green Withins Brook before the fast gravel road down to Lead Mines Clough.
The first one was about 2 feet high and to be honest I wasn't sure if I'd somehow gone off track because the trail is quite wide and has so many line choices but this blocked up the whole path. As a result I left the first one but when I came across the second two it was clear that this was a deliberate effort to stop bikers.
We've dismantled the lower two of them but take care if you're riding down that way. I'm strugglng to upload a pic because FLICKR have been arsing aboit with the format again but for those who know it, it is called Mud Splat Corner on Strava.
He's been doing it for years round there mate. He has even laid Caltrops on Spitllers Edge and boards with nails in.
He just must have more time on his hands nowadays.
Does he not realise that his hour of work means two minutes effort for us and a brand new jump?
Same as whoever it is who keeps rolling big rocks into a little descent on Barden Moor. He's clearly never seen a modern bike rolling over stuff like that.
There is (yet another) recent post on the Rivington FB page on these activities.
There does appear to be a rash of them at the moment, in the chinese gardens, trails down on the Belmont side, & as always trails off Anglezarke.
One day someone will have a serious injury.
