Hej guys, new to the forum 🙂 Pieter here, from the Netherlands.
I am Considering getting my hands on one of these framesets, but for a bit of an usual build. Checking the geometry, the chainstays are only 10mm shorter than my old 29'er mtb (which I don't have anymore). Makes me wonder, what is the absolute biggest tyres I would be able to ram in this frame? And how about the fork? Also, maybe I'm wrong here, but I seem to recall that 'racing' gears take 130mm of rear spacing, and 'mtb' gears take 135mm. Does this frame allow for a nice little 1x11 XT?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
/Pieter
Oh right, forgot to add, I've got no interest in mud guards
Hi,
Can't say what is max tyre capacity but London Road is definitely 135mm rear spacing.
How many disc hubs with 130mm spacing you have on the market?
I found 1 or 2 that were not prohibitively expensive and another handful of boutique, properly expensive (Pauls, White Industries, Mack etc...)
You shouldn't have much of a problem converting it into 1x11 as there is off the peg SRAM 1x11 version available on PX: London Road Rival 1
Cheers!
I.
Got 35c on mine and there is loads of room to go.
Can get a finger between the tyre and frame at both seat and chainstays, same at the fork.
Spacing is standard 135mm, mine works fine with 9 speed road shifters paired with xt mtb cassette and mech.
Awesome, thanks for clearing that up guys! Could anyone measure the actual clearance? That would be awesome! I'd order the frame and check for myself but as I live in Sweden just ordering for checking and returning would cost me about 60 pounds. .
So they weren't being completely silly when they had the gravity field inducing 50mm Schwalbe Century tyres as an option for building a complete bike?
New to the forum and found the existing thread!! Impressive 🙂
Awesome cdoc, thanks! Looks like I'll be ordering the frame then 🙂 I've got loads of weird ideas for this one. . if i can i will put 29'ers in it. If not, i'll get another fork and might go 29 up front 28 in back. sure there will be plenty of people that will hate it but . . 😛 my idea is to make a fast commuter that feels playful like an urban mtb. If anyone wants to follow, i can upload pics of the project as i go along?
I think that 28, 29 and 700c wheels all use the same rims, albeit with potentially differing widths. Is that right?
depends. 28 (27.5) in mtb world is smaller rims than 28 road bikes, but other than that ye, different widths, otherwise pretty much the same.

Not exactly. They may have the same circumference but road rims are designed to take higher tyre pressures than MTB rims.
Ideal for 40c Nanos. Or wider slicks, but Nanos great fit with plenty mud clearance.
A 1.95 Renegade will Not fit. No way, for reference.
