How did you get it for that price? I picked the cheapest shipping option and it was just above £100.

PayPal’s exchange rate

There's the problem. Paypal are profiting by offering an exchange rate that's a few % higher than the true market rate. I think what they offered me was £98 something too.

What you want is to use a debit or credit card that uses the Mastercard base rate - which is about as good a rate as you'll find. Halifax Clarity used to be my one of choice, but right now I'm using a Chase Debit card for pretty much everything whilst they're offering 1% cashback.

Same as paying for anything abroad. Always pay in foreign currency (with an appropriate low-rate credit card) and never accept the exchange rate they offer on the card machine/atm.

£95.69 paying with a Nationwide Select Card that is charge free and uses the Visa spot rate. You get rinsed on PP and cards that charge a fee.

Yep I was rushing and realised as soon as I hit pay that it wasn’t the best way - oh well, it’s only a couple of quid and still a lot better that £150 ish.

I use PayPal credit and although the exchange rate is not the best, there are no other charges and I get 4 months interest free.

Might look into a card that gets me a better exchange rate as I can see me buying most - if not all - of my bike components from now on from abroad (up to the £135 tax free limit).

The Eagle has landed (sorry)!

Got my order today with no extra charges. The box that the cassette came in is huge!

Realised I don't have a SRAM Eagle tool so will need to buy one of them.

Just checked my current GX chains and they're both looking like they've plenty of wear yet but better to have a spare chain and cassette whilst they're cheap(er).

Tranquility Base here as well. Eagle just landed and no charges.

I notice the customs declaration on show in the plastic document wallet only states the value but no VAT breakdown.

GX Cassette, XX01 chain, Rockshox bleed kit and SRAM butter ordered, total EU187 = £164 appeared my my CC.

Letter from Parcelforce today - total of £45 to pay - £31 VAT, £3 customs duty and £12 "clearance fee". And it won't be delivered until next week now. Thank you Brexit.

Total is therefore £211, and ordering the same stuff from UK suppliers would have been £248 so a "bit" cheaper but not much. Lesson learned about keeping below £135 in the future!

Both my orders now arrived - each complete with free Haribo AND waterbottle (just to one-up Wiggle). 11-sp cheapskate here, not 12-sp flash-dan:

Order #1: €104,56 (£91.64) XG1150 cassette plus ESI Extra Chunkys

Order #2: €97,84 (£86.22) XG1150 cassette plus PC1130 chain

No additional charges I'm aware of.
