Sad news, but for the second year running they've made the call and cancelled the event. Last year was forecast snow, but this year there's plenty of real snow on the moors above Rochdale and the forecast is that it's going to hang around until the weekend, and will probably turn icy too. I can't blame them for the decision as if I were organising it, I wouldn't want to spend my weekend pulling under-equipped people off the hills.
It'a great event and one that I've enjoyed for many years, but I'm a bit disappointed that my son hasn't got to do it yet as it's been scrubbed both years he's entered. Fortunately, it's a public route, so we might head out and ride it later in the year when conditions are a bit more fun anyway!

again, it needs to be put back later in the year, i've done the last 2, really enjoyed them, but damn cold. all weathers in one day
It's a great route and a really enjoyable ride but as I'm not especially local to it, I've only ridden the route at this event - i.e. in mid-winter. I suspect it's a much more pleasurable ride in the summer!
A few people have suggested moving it, but I think they have a pretty full diary and are struggling to move rides around. They have moved the Leeds one (which suffers badly from mud in the early year) to a later date and that's certainly a good thing, but I reckon that this one will be tough to move. Anyway, here's hoping for next year...
My mates done it a few times so we went round the same route using his GPS Log last summer. To be honest i though the route was a bit dull with no real fun bits.
