20% off gift vouchers at CRC.
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=75949
20% is a bit better than the usual offers. Looks like the best tactic would be to estimate how much you anticipate spending next year, then buy yourself that many gift vouchers.
Hey presto, your own personal 20% discount.
(and you can use the CRC discount codes on these too for big savings)
It says...
"This voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other voucher offer."
Does that include discount codes?
So, if I've got the maths right, you can buy 13x£10 voucher for £104, less 15% = £88.40.
That's £130 worth of stuff for £88.40. Whatever total discount that works out at, it sounds pretty good.
Does that include discount codes?
yes, they're applied at the checkout as vouchers.
bear in midn that the gift vouchers are onyl valid after 25/12 and that they are likely to have stopped the current discoutn campaign by then in any event.
I was just about to post this - seems a very generous offer. Desperate times and desperate measures maybe?
Paceman, a "voucher" and a "discount code" are the same thing.
There's only space to enter one when you order.
The difference with this is that you can use a discount code to buy a voucher, effectively compounding the discounts.
I saw this. Effectively free money. Buying £100 for £80!
Looking back through my order history, I've spent close to £1500 in the past year with CRC and Wiggle.
Do I now take a gamble and assume I will spend about the same next year and buy £1300 worth of vouchers for £884 ? 😕
I posted this not just as a PSA, but to see if someone could point out some fundamental flaw in my plan that I had overlooked before I commit.
MTG - I don't think you can though can you? As wwaswas said, vouchers and discount codes are the same with crc so you wont be able to use a Discount code when buying with vouchers.
their's two 'risks'
1) you end up buying stuff you wouldnt; have had just to use up the vouchers.
2) CRC aren't around to honour the vouchers in 9 months time (or whenever).
other than that, you wouldn't earn any money putting your £900 in th bank for a year so why not effectively get a 25% return by investing in vouchers?
One flaw I can see is that I would need to anticipate how much I would spend in each go.
If I buy a load of £10 vouchers, I would need to buy loads of items just over £10 to get the maximum benefit.
If I buy £100 vouchers, I would probably end up buying stuff I don't need to bump the order value over £100.
fbk, I don't think that's a problem.
You use the "UK15" code to buy a £100 voucher for £80 less 15% now. You then use that voucher code after 25.12.11.
You're only using one voucher code per order.
Don't forget to get 3% cashback too 🙂

Presumably you can enter the code on more than one trip (i.e. £1000 voucher, you keep using it untill it runs out rather than having to buy a bike with it)
I’ve just bought 13 x £10 vouchers for £89. 😀
Paceman, remember you can only use one voucher per order.
That's OK if you're buying lots of £10 items, not so good if you're buying one £100 item.
While there is the 15% off offer surely the best deal would be to use the free £50 voucher off your next order deal. Order now £130 of vouchers for the £104 and get a £50 voucher off your next order. Do the same again tomorrow with that voucher and you'd be getting £260 of vouchers for £158. Using the 15% off only they'd cost you £177.
ignore me...
Can you buy a £100 item using two £50 gift vouchers, though? That's the only possible catch - if you can only enter one voucher code at the checkout, then you're slightly caught.
I've used CRC vouchers before and you can use more than one per order.
Buying them for birthdays etc would be silly otherwise.
so say i am looking at an £1800 frame, I buy 36 x £50 voucher for £1440, saving £360!?!?!
assuming that it is in stock of course!
EDIT: you cant use them all at once pah!!
Steveh
From Ts&Cs of £50 off next purchase offer:
This voucher cannot be used to purchase Gift vouchers
The spend £100 and get £50 off your next order offer needs to be used 4 weeks after the original purcahse.
The e-mail I've got says that the UK15 type codes can't be used to buy gift vouchers, even though the website is letting that go through. 😕

Assuming it's in stock come the 25th

Steveh, that's interesting that you can use more than one gift voucher per order.
It makes me wonder why they sell high value ones then. Surely it would always be more useful to have the opportunity to make lots of small orders rather than one big one.
It's for Christmas presents though, so Auntie can buy you £10 or £100 if she wants to. She's not to know that the £100 kinda stuffs you up, but CRC are quite happy.
anyone bought over £130 of vouchers (paying £104 - cashback) and also got the £50 off next £100 code?
would make new back wheel much cheaper..
ahh
Gift vouchers can only be redeemed from 25th December 2011
Just ordered £130 worth adding the 50% off next order discount code. Planning on buying a pair of shimano goretex spd's using the 50% off code if/when I get it.
Great PSA if this works. If it doesn't I've still got 20% off. Just waiting on the order to be completed to see if I get the 50% voucher code.
So it isnt so good if what you are buying is over £100??
i.e. I want some £600 wheels. Can only use one £100 voucher, which would cost me £68 (£32 saving). So wheels effectively still cost me £568??
ads-b - I think that's the case yes. Theses don't seem to be normal gift vouchers so I think you can only use one at once. I was tempted to buy £250 worth to get some XTR disc brakes in the New Year but I don't think it would work
According to pacemans post above you can use more than one voucher per order but I've never used them so cant confirm. You should be able to buy 6 £100 vouchers saving yourself £120 then use them all for the one purchase.
I'm waiting for my order to be processed now.
When I get my Gift Voucher codes I'll see if I can use more than one per order.
I know they will not be valid until after 25.12.11, but I want to see if I can do that, even though I know the discount will not be applied.

Unless these are different vouchers with "special" T&C's. 😐
That's why I'm wondering how that would work.
There's only one Voucher Code box when you order.
How do you use more than one voucher ?
Once you've added a voucher code to your order and updated to get the discount, the code box becomes empty again. Couldn't you then add another code?
Where does it say you can only use one voucher at a time?
Hmmmm....
Right- to solve this i'm just going to email them.
Any objections?
Hmmmm indeed. They're a different item to the normal gift voucher - they're still available full price, but the conditions don't seem to say you can't use more than one at once.......
Whatever the case, I've stayed conservative and got a £50 and a £20, costing £51 with the £5 for spending £50 discount also applied. 3% quidco and 1% cashback from capital one means £70s worth has only cost me £49, which is pretty good really, and considering I'm after a new helmet and pedals in the new year will almost certainly be spent.
(I've also got my eye on a £700 bike but didn't dare buy £560s worth in case they can only be used one at at time. Will kick myself if it turns out you can use them all at once......)
Got a response. Let the spending begin....

Hi Adam,
Yes you can use more tan one gift voucher per order simply add one to your basket at a time.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thanks,
Becca
I think I'm slightly in love with Becca.
Oh god - I don't think I really wanted to hear that (about the vouchers, not about you and Becca!)
