After much tweaking I’ve finally decided my XL Mojo HD3 just isn’t long enough.
I have since bought a Whyte T129rs which is spot on but I would like to take the parts off the Mojo to put on a different AM frame.
<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">So I reckon I’m looking for frames around 65cm in the top tube at around 160mm travel in a 650b. Alu or carbon considered but probably prefer alu.</span>
I’d love to try a Kona Process which made my original short list.
Any other suggestions?

I've got a large nukeproof mega 290 and I'm 6'2 and its a nice roomy bike, the xl must be huge.
Nukeproof mega? 668mm effective top tube, 515mm reach in XL.
That Geometron looks good for length but I’m not sure I’d get on with that kind of slackness.
Id not looked at the Mega. I’m also 6’ 2” but I’m all arms and legs.
Does the Mega ride nice?
im lanky to (35' inseem) mega is great, it just wants to go fast but its not a playful bike. i have a short travel bike for that so i just use the mega for uplifts/races and trips away.
Bird Aeris 145 LT ? - 680 ETT, 528 reach in xl.
I'm 6 2 and a half but long arms and recently tried the mega 290 XL, felt pretty spot on in size and I was very comfortable on it. I'd like to demo XL rocket max and bird am9. My holy grail is short seat tube and long reach and I've still not found the limits of reach yet
Geometron isn't a serious option for me due to its price, mind you nothing is at the minute with a young family! Just looking is all
Have a look at Orange frames. My XL is great and almost too long!
Sorry but when you call your thread "Proper XL long all mountain/enduro bikes" you know exactly what the first comment will be!
Don't discount the Geometron. It's more than just a daft head angle (which is adjustable anyway). They're available for demos and often come up for sale as people swap and changes sizes. I know people who are on their 3rd Geometron frame because they started too cautiously then went bigger. I have an old mate up north who's had 4 of them before settling on a G16 hybrid and now reckons he can't ride anything else.
They do excel at a certain type of riding though. It depends how rowdy you like to get.
If you're anywhere near Sheffield you can try mine.
The Mojo HD was/is quite short anyway I think. Certainly felt short to me so probably a number of the longer enduro bikes will feel roomier.
Mega 290, Orbea Rallon, Bird Aeris, Geometron, Transition Sentinel/Patrol are all good options IMO. I have the Orbea, friends on megas and various santa Cruz bikes - all happy.
Not alu or carbon but Cotic Rocket?
I do love my steel hard tails but hadn’t considered it for a full suss I’ll have a look.
I’m looking for something roomy, rowdy and tough feeling. Like my T129rs but up for more of the gnar. The Mojo is a lovely bike in so many ways but I tend to just take the WHYTE now.
Pole Evo Link 158?
New Rocket geometry…
Without spending a small fortune on a frame (Pole / Geometron) the. The Bird Aeris 145 LT has to be worth a look. 160mm at the rear and can run a 170 or 160mm travel fork. Slack without being geometron slack and there are 2 linkages for the rear available - 160 or 145mm travel. It’s pretty long in the reach / wheelbase in the ML size I’ve got - the XL must be huge!
Link to frame data sheet:
edit - looking at the rocket sheet above, that’s got similar reach and wheelbase dimensions to the large Aeris 145.
fingerbang: I’m 6 2 and a half but long arms and recently tried the mega 290 XL, felt pretty spot on in size and I was very comfortable on it. I’d like to demo XL rocket max and bird am9. My holy grail is short seat tube and long reach and I’ve still not found the limits of reach yet
As much as i love my RocketMax (XL) i wouldn't call it overly long. With a reach-around ;P 464mm with 140 forks (that drops around 4mm for every 10mm of extra fork travel). This is only 6mm longer than the new, medium, longshot Rocket. There's probably a longshot version of the Max due soon if 29 is what you seek. This could* piss me off for a couple of reasons. My bike will be worth considerably less as they'll discount the older model drastically, and the extra reach would be nice. Would mean i could go for a large frame with a shorter seat tube but still get the length i want (6'5" and perfectly proportioned 😀 )
*Could if i was a serial bike swapper and wasn't completely happy with how the bike rides and fits but still...
p.s <div> forum is fu<king div>!!!!
