Can I use a hollowtech 2 chainset with a race face x-type bottom bracket?

(I suspect not as its a bit of a tight fit)

I was using Raceface Evolve XC cranks with a Raceface X-Type, then swapped the BB to a Hope one and it fits fine. So you should be okay... probably.

Works fine, till the Race Face seizes (mine lasted about a year)

Do I need to use the 'gentle persuader' then as when trying to install the axle is tight in the bearings?

I think some other standards have different axle diameters for each side - not sure which they are but I'd suggest you at least satisfy yourself that there's no play at either side (I guess also one side could be too narrow but I guess that'd be obvious)

It's equally as tight regardless of which side I try to insert it, I guess I should stop being tight and fork out for a new bb anyway - just have wasting stuff

I have just gone the other way fitting a rf xtype crank into a shimano bb. The fit is fine.
