Looking to convert a Pro 2 front 20mm hub to fit a 15mm boost fork. As I understand I just need end caps from 2 different kits (HUB1009-14N & HUB-441) and a re-dish, but what about the sleeve/centre tube - do I not need a narrower diameter one to fit the 15mm axle, or is it just for spacing the bearings rather than supporting the axle?

Second question, is there actually any real world benefit to running a "proper" 110mm boost hub vs a converted and re-dished one? As if not I may just save some money and rebuild with a 27.5" rim instead of a whole new wheelset - the Pro 2 has been a solid and reliable hub for years now so seems a shame to get rid!

You just need the end caps for the Hope conversion.

If you have space in the fork dropouts, eg if they are torque cap compatible, then you can get a sleeve for the hub to take it down to 15mm. Cheaper than new caps and no need to reddish. You will also need a shim spacer for your disk.

Eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225716438495?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qexkwia6slg&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=pYJBGjRYTte&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

The centre spacer does not matter. It keeps the bearings apart but does not support the axle. The 15mm caps go through the bearings and hold the centre spacer in the correct place. Axle only touches the end caps. With the hope kit there is no/very little benefit to a boost hub.

Don't bother with the sleeve as it's a hack Vs the proper end caps.

@nickjb - I've bought a Lyrik so it's Torque cap compatible, that looks ideal then! Is it a 5mm disc spacer that's needed?

Yeah, a 5mm disk spacer. Available cheaply on eBay, Ali Express, etc.

Is it hell, it's just a bit heavier is all, no different to a 15mm - QR converter. Plus no need to redish meaning it can be quickly swapped back.

Both solutions are a hack really. The "proper" end caps don't make the wheel any stronger as you still have the same flange spacing and spoke angles. Both work fine, but one solution is cheap and easy.

The spoke angles change with the proper kit as you redish (all the extra width is in the non disc side), arguably this makes the wheel stronger as the tension difference between each side is less. You also don't end up using longer rotor bolts and having a spacer.

Don't suppose anyone here has done this conversion with the two Hope kits needed and has the 2 spare spacers lying around they'd like to sell?

I've seen the disc spacers aren't recommended for anything bigger than 180mm so I think I'll give that a miss.

I've bought Hope's torque cap boost conversion kit in the past, it's just one kit, redishing was simple enough, and you end up with more even spoke angles and tension as said about,  no regrets,  I also have proper boost version and have no preference, both perform exactly the same,  no spacer faff or lining up faff to put the axle through, doesn't even look odd with the extra 10mm on one side,  I would do it again, no question.

£20 Vs £6, I'd rather spend £20 just to have the axle slide in first time.

@noeffsgiven is that this one? Looks like it should work, better than faffing around with 2 kits and only using half of what I've paid for!

I'd say that it depends on how often you remove the front wheel.

We have the two spacers plus disc spacer on at the moment but its front wheels off in the camper and over the course of a holiday, it does my head in. I bought an extra kit and as I bound to lose a spacer at some point (if you need just the disc spacer I have one you can have for postage).

I have bought the Hope end cap and when I have the time I'll be booking the wheel in for the re-dish.

@_tom_ that's the right kit if you have torque cap compatible RS forks. If you have another fork make there is a similar kit for non torque cap.

Yep that's the kit I bought,  excuse the late reply, I had an early night as I was knackered
