So, I'm entered for Kielder 100.
Last year I did it single speed in about 12 hours. All this year I've been telling myself I would put gears on the bike so I'd be able to go faster and harder, and possibly offset being a year older and fatter. Clearly gears are the sensible option.
But. I've just been cleaning the bike. And with all the mud and grime removed, it so clearly wants just one gear. And I know I shall get a singular case of single-speed envy, not to mention pitying looks from everyone who refused to buckle under.
So, what to do? SS or gears? STW - help me decide!

Singlespeed. if you managed it OK on one last time, riding it geared will feel like the easy option ๐
And you certainly won't have the same smugness factor afterwards.
