Hello.
i have a new deep-section wheel for my TT bike. It's too big to get a valve through so I need an extender.
I have two kinds of extender, a Zipp and a BBB.
However, these have different threads to the valve, the same thread as each other, but a much finer thread than every valve on every tube I have.
WTF is going on here? I thought all valves had the same thread (ever found a dust cap which doesn't fit?)
Am I missing something?
Cheers
Weird bumpy thing.
Wouldn't do it all from my telephone but at least lets me this it on my laptop
Are they extenders where you remove valve core and screw the extender in?
What type of extender have you got? Some you remove the valve core in the tube, and insert the extender in place of the core. Some are just a hollow tube that screws onto the outside of the stem with the valve core in place.
The diameter indicates that it should go over the valve rather than replace the core, and indeed it does, nie snug fit for the first couple of mm then you get to the thread and it just won't screw on to it
.
[EDIT] Oh.. I might have it upside down. Looks like the valve core might screw into the bit I was trying to get over the valve and the bit I thought was just grip for the pump might screw into where the valve core used to be... Thanks both, you were right!
