So, 'new' frame has a PF92 bb, which apparently takes a standard 24mm Shimano or similar crank.
I'd like to pop in a new BB to avoid f*nnying about anytime soon...
How big a PITA are they to remove and fit?
I have headset press plus headset cup removal tool in the garage....
Or, just get my LBS to supply and fit???
I have the same bb.... In a carbon bottom bracket shell.
I did it with 2 huge metal washers and a threaded bolt/nut. A bit scary but doable.
Sounds like you have better kit to fit it so with a bit of patience I reckon you would be fine.
You can fit either 30mm or 24mm cranks. Go for 24mm if you can (with right bb obvs) as you have far more choice of bb and cranks brands. 😉
Very easy, tap out the old cups, I tend to use a socket extension bar, but if you can get your removal tool in all the better. Then press in the new bb, have used the threaded bar and washer method but now have a posh headset press. I use copper grease, even on carbon and have never have an issue or creak.
My Norco Sight has a BB92, it was simplicity itself to remove and replace (Shimano XTR - the OE was SRAM and therefore made of cheese). I bought the removal tool and used it once, but it only cost me less than £20.
You simply drift out and press in the replacement with a length of threaded bar, some sturdy washers and a couple of bolts.
Easy to do. I bought a cheap press fit tool (but with proper races to fit the bearings) from eBay or someplace for I dunno, 15-20 quid? An another 10 quid or thereabouts on an icetoolz springy thing that looks like a whisk for making cakes. Use the ice tools to get the bearings out with a mallet and then the press to put the new BB in. I went for a threaded PF from wheelsmfg for a bit more solidity which sadly needed another tool to wrench it on.
edit: sounds like you have everything you need to do the job already. It's like a 5 minute job and dead easy. oh, and some parks grease too.
For Shimano TL-BB13 (removal) and TL-BB12 (install), there are probably cheaper copies now

Dead easy, just the same as a press in headset. Do one side at a time to make sure they go in straight and it's a 10mins job
Used rubber mallet to knock mine in, slapped a bit of grease on the shell - been all right so far.
Big screwdriver and lump hammer to knock the old one out.
Been doing headsets the same way for years, never had and bother with them either.
Might get a press if I ever had a carbon frame though
My BB92 was such a pain in the arse I took it to a LBS.
Firstly, what I thought should be just banging the bearings out (using the park tools bearing extractor) left a full length plastic shell that wouldn't budge (with hindsight, I am not sure whether I could have just pressed replacement bearings in without changing the shell...but I had a new one.
The only BB92 I could find at the time was on On-One which had way more parts, spacers and adaptors than the one that came out. After swearing for a good hour, I took it to the LBS.
Give me a screw thread any day.
F'in awful!
The one in my Kona Process didn't want to move at all. When all the bits that I could rest a drift against had snapped off (both sides) I had to split the remains with a hacksaw blade to get it out. (Probably didn't help that it was below freezing in the shed.)
New one pulled in with big washers / threaded rod no bother at all.
I am not normally that ham-fisted. Might be easier with the metal umbrella thing.
I wouldn't bother changing it until it gives trouble, I've changed the one on my wifes bike a few times (its an old bike when pressfit first came out) and it only takes a few minutes longer than a screw-in.
