Am shopping around for a road bike at the moment, and like This one, only it has a press fit BB
I've heard people mention them, but never actually paid attention to them,
What's the general opinion on them?
Edit: not paid attention to the BB's not the people 🙂
There are more aftermarket options now and it seems to be here to stay, so even more to come I am sure.
You need special tools to remove/fit, although you can bodge/make tools for the job.
Got one on my mountain bike. It's alright, but not great. Would rather it was hollowtech II.
It's harder to replace, doesn't seem very reliable and there are a confusing number of varieties out there. But, I think for my bike that is partly due to the Specialized speccing an odd size.
Oh and since having mine replaced a few months ago it's now quite creaky
I imagine it makes more sense on road bikes as the durability should be better.
Being fitted with a Shimano BB, if you're not happy/it causes you problems, you can always replace it with Hope's press fit version which seems very nicely made.
Like mine now, 6806 bearings from the local bearing supplier £3.75 each, takes less than 10 minutes to replace the pair.
easy to put in a remove. No idea on longevity, just fitted them.
Get the PF30 to BSA adaptor from SRAM and run a proper HT2 BB.

Pretty sure its BB90 and not PF30, so no way of using an adapter.
