I have a Praxis Alba chainset and I need to replace the big ring. Its a 48T 110mm 5 arm ring. I am a bit confused about whether I need Praxis specific rings or can I use any 110mm 5 arm ring? It does no have to be 48T as a 50T will do fine.

Reading about the chaiset suggests that you cannot use Praxis rings with other cranksets but it doesnt say whether other brands will work with the alba.

Any advice is much appreciated!

My understanding is that they're Praxis specific, which is why I bought a Sugino compact+ chainset instead.

i thought it was the strangely machined and countersunk inner ring that was specific?

Having had to shop around for these I decided against using a Praxis Alba chainset on my own bike.

Yeah.... I think its the inner ring. It looks like the outer is normal and living on the flat means I have never used the inner ring so refuse to spend 120ish on the praxis chain ring set.

I have ordered a shimano ring so if it fits great, if not I'm going to go for a shimano crankset to avoid this again.

Keep us updated if it fits, as an aside I have an alba 48 ring in the garage if you get stuck. Thats rightvI paid 120 notes for the pair after stripping the thread on the inner. Stupidity is expensive!!

I spoke to Praxis directly and they said any 110mm 5 arm chain ring will fit the crankset.

I have yet to fit the 50T shimano one I have so we will see how that goes.
