[#1388559]

Right my trusty steed (I know I know) is at the welding shop right now. Next stage is probably going to be a new coat of paint.

To be fair I am wondering about the "new" colour. Part of me is wondering if I should not have it sanded/blasted/piranhaed bare with just a PU varnish on it. Other option could be hi viz commencal orange, or a green (probably a hi viz commencal green). I could go back to red indeed but maybe a more darkish red than the RAL 3000.
I have googled for RAL charts, but I can't find anything decent. So in the pure STW style, show me your powder coated frame 😀

OK I am going to make it a new thread 😉

get it dipped and polish it with wet and dry / wire wool and mothers polish. No need for any laquer if its aluminium alloy. Obviously if its steel tho.....

Nope I can't. Maybe It will appear in a bit. Plus you need the [img] tags to make it work.

Oops! I think I had the permissions set wrong on the photo hosting website.

The red looks great 'in the flesh'. I probably wouldn't have gone with it if not powder coated though - the lovely glossy (almost liquid looking) finish I think is specific to that method.

The 'raw' look that allmountain suggests also looks terrific though.

What frame is it you're refurbishing?

it's my handjob. Not really some refurbishment though. The weld is cracking so I got it to get fixed. So I will have a patch of raw metal. Not usre I'll like it.

My powdercoating shop had a selection of samples they could show you to pick the colour from. IMO there are better selections than RAL. I went for something described as Candy Red, it was more expensive because it was a two coat finish. In the same range they had some interesting effects they could do.

Not the greates of photos, google candy red to get more.
