[#11214988]

Going to put a bike on ebay, which should sell for around £700ish. In the current climate I'm struggling to get a bike box (I would normally ask for a free one from Halfords). Have you posted a bike without boxing it up ? Wondering if I could use a bit of Foam padding on the frame and wrapped newpaper & tape on key parts and send using Paisley freight.

I think Paisley require bikes to be boxed, they do offer a uplift on their service where they will provide a box.

We got a box from Halfords last week. No problems and no queue

I wouldn’t send a bike unboxed. I’ve sold a few on eBay and always wrapped and boxed the bike before shipment.

I think you run a higher risk of damage and/or the customer finding fault and expecting a reduction in price.

Bikes are selling like mad ATM, maybe put a wanted ad on Facebook marketplace? You could also try selling the bike on it too, if you haven’t advertised already

Most bike shops will give you a box for free. Trying to send a bike unboxed will just result in it getting trashed IMO - I work part-time building and packing bikes for my LBS web-sales. You want to see the state of the bike box if it comes back.

I wouldn't be happy if I'd spent £700 on a bike and it was posted without being in a box and with packaging.

Paisley definitely won't accept a bike unboxed, it says on the label for the courier not to collect if it isn't.

My local Halfords just leave all their old cardboard boxes out the back and are happy for people to take them.

Pad the frame and box it, take photo's of it before closing the box, and with the postage label attached. Also, take photo's of the box from all angles, to show no damage to the box

Luckily I did that, and a frameset I sold on here, had the lower headset cup damaged during delivery, where said cup had punched through the box.

Between the buyer and myself, we were able to provide all the pic's they wanted for a claim.

They're not called Parcel Farce for no reason.

Boxed, padded and photo'd every time. There are just to many dilberts out there to take the risk.
