On my travels recently I keep passing a P7 frame locked to a bike stand which has clearly had everything stolen from it. I havent stopped to have a closer inspection so I dont know the condition of the frame. What would you do?

Litterbugs... How long has it been there? If it's been there a while i would probably do the council a favour and remove it.

On our uni campus if there are any bikes left at the end of the year they get removed. Say I spotted a nice frame that could be put to good use, I would try and remove it before security did...

It's not yours, therefore removal = theft. ๐Ÿ˜•

i know of a lovely tiny yellow P7 that has been abandonded by a female friend of mine who now lives in NZ, she broke up with her fella and left most of her belongings with him after she found out he was shagging around with her best mate. he's also got my Pendle bike rack which i'll never see again ๐Ÿ™

I would have that for sure. It will only be angle grindered (?) off by the council and end up in landfill.

You owe it to us all to stop this happening!

I have bits off abandoned bikes all the time, to date bars, stem, brakes, peddles and shifters fitted to various bikes.

Like Oggles said, it's just litter now.

Alex

I rode past that and clocked it last Friday and wondered the same. Such a waste for a top qual frame like that to be scrapped. I think the law is if you find and pass onto the Police and no-one claims in 28 days then it's yours. Maybe speak to Local Police, ask them how it would work in these circumstances and see what happens? Sadly taking it, even to bring it back into use, would be theft ๐Ÿ™

Brooess is right. Report it to the Police and they will suggest that you look after it (they all have far too many bikes in found property). After a month, its yours if it doesnt get claimed ๐Ÿ™‚

If it was complete but dirty and matbe damaged, then I'd leave it but keep it under observation, and possibly report it. Stripped of bits like it is, I'd 'liberate' it, before some scumbag decides to start attacking the frame itself, like kicking the stays out of shape.

Get yourself a hi-vis vest with local council logo on back, clipboard, add a bored 'bloody bikes' look on your face, large as possible bolt croppers and your in business.
