Hiya,
I've never been happy with my position on my Kona Big Rove commuter / whatever bike.
After a bit I get numbness in my fingers, starting on the outside and moving in. Then my wrists hurt (I sert innuendos here).
I lowered my seat a bit, which helped slightly, at the cost of efficiency.
Things I've considered:
1. Better ergon grips
2. Shorter stem
3. Swept back commuter bars
4. Bullhorn bars
Combinations of the above.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues. What worked?
More core strength will probably help, it sounds like you're not holding yourself up properly and are putting all your weight through your hands.
Thought this was going to be a Valentine's Day thread...
I've fitted Ergon Ga3 grips to my bikes now as I get hand and wrist pain.
They really help I reckon.
I've also gone for a higher bar on my more xc bike(fatbike) that I spend more time just pedalling along.
Seems to help a bit.
Could be any number of things - too much weight on the bars, too little, grabbing the bars tight, no one can diagnose from your post, nor offer a guaranteed solution, tho I'd expect core can't hurt, and change to the position might.
Show us a pic?
Good idea cynic-Al. I will try to rumidge up one.
The reason I think it is set up is that I don't have this issue at all on my MTB which is much smaller.
I got a medium frame, for cheap, then when buying the road bike kind of overcompensated.
Such a useful video. Cheers, Alex
