One of my magura julies needs some tlc. The piston doesn't seem to retract properly so the pads rub the disc something cronic. I can push the piston back into place with a screwdriver but it just gets stuck again when I apply the brake. I'm pretty sure that it isn't an alignment issue. How can I fix this?
Cheers
Chris
Take the pads out, and remove the caliper from it's mount. Give the caliper a really good clean, then press the lever to push the piston out. Using a cotton wool bud, lubricate around the piston with some of the brake fluid that your brakes use (either DOT fluid, or mineral oil, depending on make), this should help free them up and get them moving. Clean off any excess, then put the whole caboodle back together.
Simples.
Wot kramer said - just be careful not to pop the piston right out.
red rubber grease is a better lube than brake fluid is is OK on the seals
Cheers guys I'll give that a try.
