Good evening!
The house insurance is due for renewal and it seems like a lot of people on here go with M & S because of the bicycle cover that is included. After looking at their website it appears that the bikes dont need to be listed and will be covered up to £4000 each. My big question is if I was to make a claim how do I prove the value of the bike. None of the bikes are standard 'off the shelf' models and most of them have been purchased through ebay / second hand so dont have shop receipts.
For example I have a Giant Trance 3 frame built with XT / Fox's / Crossmax's which is worth quite a bit more that a stock Trance 3. I assume that I would only be covered for the cost of a replacement stock Trance 3 rather than a different model with a more similar spec to my current one.
I hope that all makes sense, if anyone could shed some light that would be great!
Cheers, H
I'm with M&S and i have also had all my bike stolen, I did have some receipts for some of the bike but like you a couple of them I had built up myself.
First off take some pictures of the bikes to show you do actually own them, the loss adjuster made me feel like the criminal for having so many bikes and to justify having them.
What I did to get a value for the bikes was just take the spec list to my LBS and got them to price it all up for me and sign it on headed paper, M&S seemed to accept that fine.
