The thumb lever on my right hand SLX shifter has a couple of cms movement before engaging - it's been there since new so not due to wear, and I had the same thing with my previous Deore shifters. My cheapo Alivio 7 sp shifters on my other bike however, shifts immediately with no lag. Is there any way to remove this play . . . can't see anything to undo beneath the lever itself and I'm sure taking the whole thing apart will result in explosions 😉
hmm mine have same but have not really found it a problem - i.e. they just are that way.
will try a few others at work tomorrow and see of there is a mod. (i don't think there is btw)
Cheers! Probably just me being picky but I really notice it when swapping bikes and as my hands suffer a bit in the cold then anything which makes shifting easier is welcome. Could always fit 7 spd Alivio to my best bike I suppose 😕
