So I need some new pedals for my trail bike. Currently using nukeproofs. Any reason I shouldn't go dmr plastic? Cheaper the better ??
Well it's lighter, axle and bearing quality I would say is more important than what the pedal is made out of.

It's the way forward
I have the Nukeproof Horizon plastics on 2 bikes and they are, so far, awesome. Bashed them off a good few rocks but no real damage (I chipped one of the plastic pins but it doesn't seem to matter really). Light, not super-cheap but sensibly priced, and shitloads of grip.
I did have the old Electrons but I really didn't like em, the fat axle robbed them of grip.

Nice find. Might get a pair for the spares box at that price!
My son has the Nukeproof Horizon plastics on his Mega. So far they've stood up very well to typical teenage abuse.
Being yellow 'all the way through' also means that even when a bit bashed up they look better than painted / anodized metal pedals. Not exactly important but a nice side benefit
I may also go for a pair of those cheapies listed by Stuey. Can hardly go wrong for £14

Plastic Nukeproofs are the best pedals I've ever used - got them on both bikes. Cheap as chips, very light, they don't crack, grip like glue, and the bearings seem good too. They make a mockery of posh flats.
I've got Nukeproof Electrons and DMR V6. The difference in grip between the metal pins on the Nukeproof, and the moulded pins on the DMRs is very noticeable.
I took a trip to Bedgebury last year and realised when I got there that I'd left my bloody clipless shoes sat on the bloody doorstep and not in my bloody car where I thought I'd bloody well put them.
I bought a pair of "emergency" plastic DMR V6 pedals for less than £20 and rode with my superannuated trail running trainers, I was highly impressed with their performance. So now, whenever I drive somewhere to ride, I remember to pack my clipless shoes AND emergency pedals just in case.
There ought to be a thread about all the extra guff that we mountain bikers are in the habit of carrying around.
I've owned a couple of pairs of DMR plastics:
Cheap and light
Good grip and smooth spinning when new
Bearings/Bushes don't last that long and are non-servicable (and i ride 4hours /week in the dry only)
Plastic pins can not be replaced and rocks do take their toll.
I'm using the plastic Nukeproof Horizons, really like them, grip is better than the SS nanos I have on another bike and they still look good after a few rock strikes.
Got some Raceface Chesters second hand from the bay to put on a wee steel hardtail project, they are proper stiff and the grippiest pedals I've ever had.
Anyone tried the OneUp ones? They're on CRC now, look quite nice.

This. Was a big Nano fan until I tried the plastic Nukeproofs. Wouldn't go back now.
I still have a set of nanos on one bike and tbh, can't really tell much difference. Except that the Horizons were £30 and the Nanos are mags with ti axles so cost £90 and barely weigh any less. No contest
I was a big fan of the original Electron but didn't like the Evo version.
Then moved to horizon comps but had 2 pairs fail in the same way.
So I've now moved on to Hope pedals. Expensive but very nice indeed.
