Had a look at those the other day...some are certainly on the more bizarre side like Bum Gun...

Did quite like Cycle of Violence...
[img] [/img]
...but not enough to buy it.

How very offensive. I don't wish to portray cycling in this manner.

but what was the market research

I imagine Planet-X were selling a load of.....oh....hehe...selling a load of....ahhh my sides!...sorry, one sec, selling a load of those...teeheehee...one last try...selling a load of those...pffft... Phaart pumps...*chortle*, so figured people liked bums and willys.

OMG! ONE OF THEM IS CALLED THE TRUMP DELUXE!!!>!>!>!> *explodes*

...anyway, I assume they are currently patting themselves on the back at another genius bit of gorilla* marketing, to get everyone talking about their new t-shirts.

*damp squid.

I'm pleased someone mentioned these, because my first thoughts were no, don't like it, and thought it was just me being prudish. He may be a highly regarded artist, but if a child had drawn this would you pin on the fridge or refer them to a shrink, I know I would be chosing the latter.

I would cut out the middle man, and pin the kid to the fridge.

I would cut out the middle man, and pin the kid to the fridge.

I would just open the fridge and take out some beer and pizza and try and ignore everything. But this probably explains why I'm divorced.

my intention was no gorilla or viral marketing but a complete wonderment at who would buy that
followed
by who thought it was a good idea to commission it
then
would you want to be associated with the brand,

Not suggesting you tried to make it viral vondally, the product was bound to pop up here
And no, I wouldn't want to be associated with that brant/d even before these shabby little vests made their appearance

I like 'em.

P'haps better on a bike jersey.

Whereas the Mambo designs were very intricately drawn, clever & funny, these look like they've just been dashed off in 5 minutes. Not impressed.

The male bicycle dates from 1995, inspired by Flann O'Briens "The Third Policeman" This version was the cover of a Mental As Anything EP.
If you really want to be offended, you should read his book.

I think they are about the most original cycling t-shirts I've seen in years. When I first saw them I thought 'Mambo ripoff', but to have the real deal designing t-shirts for them is great. It isn't often that I applaud OnOne these days, but good stuff.

It is a delight to see the prudes and engineers getting their panties in a knot over a bit of art that isn't Howies or other mainstream accepted crap. I bet that 'modern art rubbish' has you ruffling the pages of the Mail with your mouth all pursed up like a cat's arse.

Guerrilla marketing is an advertising strategy in which low-cost unconventional means (graffiti, sticker bombing, flash mobs) are utilized, often in a localized fashion or large network of individual cells, to convey or promote a product or an idea. The term guerrilla marketing is easily traced to guerrilla warfare which utilizes atypical tactics to achieve a goal in a competitive and unforgiving environment.

While most modern squibs used by professionals are insulated from moisture, older uninsulated squibs needed to be kept dry in order to ignite, thus a "damp squib" was literally one that failed to perform because it got wet. Often misheard as "damp squid", the phrase "damp squib" has since come into general use to mean anything that fails to meet expectations. The word "squib" has come to take on a similar meaning even when used alone, as a synonym for dud.

Back to the shirts, hmm, not my cup of tea but better than all the ones with blotchy print & tatty patches or or photo montages of NYC, LA or Tokyo on them that seem to be all the rage.

That says more about you and your view of the world than any wearer of these. Sad.

On-one do seem to be following an increasingly odd arc - the 'hilarious' pumps were childish but when this popped into my inbox my first thought was 'wtf?' and my second was 'to the forum, someone will claim its art' ๐Ÿ™‚

Original doesn't make it good. They are infantile, naff and dont "say" anything other than "ooh I'm a bit avant-garde". And no, I am far from a Rapha/Howies fan.

From the same school of marketing as Phaart pumps, Cove Handjobs, Stiffees and G-spots. Not being an adolescent doesn't make you a prude or a Philistine any more than having a known artist's name associated with something is a seal of quality or depth.

You'd look special/like a grown man with learning issues

My view of the world is complex ta.

Ah, the Ricky Gervais "Mong" defence ๐Ÿ™„

that post is unacceptable, unnecessary as stated above very sad.

As for art sorry for me no but art to some okay no going into that debate but as I said who will buy them looking at the posts here very few, and what is planet x core customer ...art loving, avant garde hip beatnik? Not the demographic I would have thought of, would love to have seen the market research on these t shirts
