[#1082255]

I, it has to be said, know nothing of road bikes. Or of planet x as a brand (quality wise). They have a carbon road bike with an ultegra (could somone advise me of a comparable mtb gruppo, so i have an idea) groupset at what seems a great price.

Any thoughts/experience on bike or brand for quality, helpfullness, aftercare etc would be very gratefully received!

Cheers, Allan.

AUII 105 = LX; ultegra = XT; Dura ace = XTR

Not sure about planetX

If you know nothing of road bikes, then buying a bike online is probably the last thing you want to do. As has been said before, sizing/fit is *crucial*, so it'd be wise to visit as many shops as you can, and try as many bikes as you can, before buying the one which fits best and that falls witin budget.

The "Well I'm x-tall, normally ride a y-size bike so will need a z-size road bike" is flat out wrong.

Agree with Jimbo, if you are spending that kind of money you want to get one that fits - it's more of an issue on a road bike than a mtb imo.

Cheers. I sort of thought it was about xt spec. I hear what your saying about fit, as it's a lot of dough to splash on something that doesn't fit.

It is a bargain though right?

i bought and built up a planet x sl carbon road bike this summer with ultegra parts. These frames are quite small sized.I'm 5'11" and the large is just big enough. The frame seems like great value and the bb,drop outs and headset seats are well finished. They are a good firm to deal with..prompt emails, deliveries etc. They do seem to run out of stock quickly though.
