[#6581862]

It's a fairly new thing to me but I'm getting pins n' needles when out riding, whether on my MTB or flat bar road bike. I've put some Ergon grips on my road bike to no avail, and I'm just about to put new grips on my MTB and then wrap some grip tape around them for extra cushioning. I suspect though it may not just be cushioning and could be something else.

Any thoughts welcome.

Iirc it is the ulner nerve that causes this to happen plus lack of oxygen in blood.

I tried ergon grips and they are simply fantastic at doing exactly what it says on the tin, well box but you catch my drift.

Too much of your body weight resting on your hands?

If you can, raising your bars might help.

The angle is quite critical on the ergon grips.
Mine have very subtle marks on the inside edges, that show which way is up.
Bar height probably has an influence too.

i get the same on my mountain bike

fitted cork ergon grips, kinda angled the paddle section up a little if that makes sense, to support hand more

much better comfort

Another bit of advice for playing around with the angle of the Ergon grips.

My wife loves hers now they're set up properly. Before that though, they made the pins and needles worse.

Interesting;
P&N's just in the hands? Or from the shoulder down into the hands?

Which fingers have pins and needles? Your ulnar nerve innervates the little finger and some of the ring finger, the median nerve supplies the thumb, index, middle and the rest of the ring finger.

Pins and needles is a symptom of restricted bloodflow. It could be something as simple as the straps on your camelback cutting into your shoulders too much.

There's plenty of tinkering to be done; people above have already discussed moving bars / gips / sten spacers etc. You could also try sliding the saddle forwards on the post...

Had exactly the same thing. Ergon grips improved it a bit but was only cured when I fitted some On One carbon OG swept bars. A real steal for £30, they've now gone up to £40 but still cheap.

They also have alloy ones for only £15 if you just want to try them out
