I just scored a cheap 29er for urban purposes as I don't feel safe leaving my Fargo2 around the town...

So now I'm wondering how to make it a little nicer without breaking the bank

I was thinking:
- OG bars (maybe flipped?)
- get rid of the bashguard
- get rid of the triple and make it 1x9 (using a chainguard or buying a NW chainring?)

suggestions are welcome

i like that looks very much like the Scott i purchased.

Yes - 1 x9

+ mudguards + rack - boring but oh so practical. Maybe carbon bars as on the scott i find the front pretty harsh (but running 35mm tyres)

I was gonna say fat slicks (but it already has them) and 1x9 or ss..

Looks like they may have copied (and updated) my urban bike 🙂

Mismatched mudguards, some copter tape with bad spray paint over the top, random old light brackets and bits of electrical tape, pink leopardskin fablon wrapped on the fork legs and seatpost, grime, lots of grime.

Nice bike, it'll get nicked as quick as the Fargo if you leave it round town without a bit of camouflage. Shame, I use a hopelessly unfashionable Sturmey 3 speed bike for town and still worry when I go back for it.

At least it will be a 550€ loss and not 5 times as much... 8)
My area is quite safe, I just don't want to go around with a high end bike.

So NW chainring or just a chainguard to get 1x?
The deore non-clutch RD will be ok with both solutions?
