Whilst out and about yesterday I stopped at the bottom of a climb to wind down the travel on my RS Pikes (it was set at 140mm) and after only half a turn (at about 130mm)it locked up solid, neither allowing me to wind it back up or down. Apart from that there does'nt seem to be any other change in their performance.
Wonder if anyone else has had this experience and how to resolve it.
Remove it and check the detant balls and springs underneath, clean and regrease, if u turn air could be a number of thing necessitating a strip and inspection of the uturn system.
If it's as Loco described I wouldn't be suprised. Every set of U-Turn's I've ever had have needed attention under the cap. They don't seem to come with any grease there, water gets in, the balls get rusty and the knob seizes.
Thanks folks that makes sense and sounds like a nice easy fix.
When you remove the top cap circlip and lift the cap off be very careful. Easy to get the little ball bearings & springs flying everywhere. Not a mistake I would make, oh no.
