[Closed] Pike binding after fitting 170 air spring

[#10498294]

I recently serviced and added a 170mm air spring to my solo air rt3 pikes.
When I push straight down on the bars the fork doesn't want to move but if I apply the front brake and push diagonally down and forward then the fork will compress but it's vet harsh and has a bit of a clunk at the top of the travel.
I've tried every setting and even took the top cap off and tried it with no air but it still seems locked when pushing straight down on the bars.
Is this bush binding due to the longer spring?
Thanks in advance

could it be that your stanchions are shorter than those on 170mm forks? so the bottom of the stanchion is not properly supported in the bushings?

I thought the max travel for a Pike was 160mm?

It doesn’t mention 170mm is possible in this sram tech doc.

Im guessing that must also be a Lyrik air spring. Who knows what subtle difference there are to a Pike spring on top of the increase in length. This sounds lake a bad idea to me

Pikes have thinner stanchions and don't have the right overlap for 170mm.

You can't run the Pikes at 170, the stanchions and lowers aren't designed for it. I'd take that air spring out right now if I were you before you cause some damage!
