pike 454 air uturns: i've noticed that when my negative pressure is equal/exceeds the positive pressure it starts to reduce my travel.

at 140neg/150pos i have full travel. at 150neg/150pos it reduces by a mm or so but at 150neg/150pos and above travel is down to 125mm (from 140).

i read on a forum to drop out all the air from both chambers and refill with positive first, which i did - still same issue. but i noticed that when i released the air from the neg it blew oil out of the valve as well.

have i got a prob or is this normal for pike 454?

forks are in warranty, but have already had to go back once to have the lower oil seal replaced. annoyingly they've hardly been used since that repair.

All sounds normal

You will get a bit of oil out of the -ve valve if the forks aren't upside-down...good old gravity ๐Ÿ˜‰

It will do. The Negative chamber is acting in a force directly opposite to that of the Positive chamber, so if it's pressure is greater, it will begin to reduce the travel!

Simple physics innit ๐Ÿ˜•

Whole idea of negative air is to precompress the forks a bit so that they can react to small bump forces (up and down) better? Isn't it?

Am I the only one that thinks the "solo air" system on cheaper Rockshox is more effective as it has a self equalling negative chamber? As do Fox et al if I understand correctly...
