I did the run for the retrobike anglia/lincs ten man team 2hrs 41mins shocking that first lap was my last no chance of a second fully rigid no clearance with the only mud tyres i could get thank you brant £15 each for the geax shame you put the price up to £20 within 5 mins of seeing the mud 🙄

We were lucky - OH had pinched his parents 4x4 - good thing really as the center of our camp had turned into a lake 😮
I only went as pit b**ch, didn't turn a single pedal stroke but my legs are still knackered from wading about in the mud, massive respect to those who went out in it

Yes Jonnyboy in the suit , four of us from Retrobike lined up at tbe front for a sprint start ! Was tough out there , found my single speed harder than ever to ride in the gloop

Note that the skinny tyres and tonnes of mud clearance meant it only doubled in weight over the course of a lap, rather than tripled like some peoples did!

I've only had time to read the first three pages of this thread but am always dismayed when folks who call themselves mountain bikers shy away from mud. I thought the conditions at this year's event made the race far more a test of skill than any dry course ever could be. There were huge opportunities for anyone good at spotting the firmest line to ride or with the confidence to stay off the brakes on the descents to make up ground on fitter but less skilled riders.
