Is it any good?
With all the Planet X codes it's hard to know what's a good price. Currently in the sale so wonder if noes the time to get one.
Not really any alternatives around without spending double the price. However, Planet X quality can be iffy - any usual issues with these?

No alternatives if you specifically want Ti at £1500 no.
Lots of alternatives in steel and aluminium.

A friend has one and loves it. He is quite hard on cross bikes (he's heavy and rides it like a mountain bike).
Only 2 months in though.
He's not a fan of SRAM but puts up with it - only moaning occasionaly 🙂

He paid £1499 and I think it went as low as £1350 just before Easter.

It was delayed during the build process as he requested tubeless and it looks like they didn't do anything about it until the build day came up - then realised they didn't have valves.

There's an alpkit equivalent at a similar price. Not had s bike from them but AK customer device is top notch for other stuff!

The frame was £699 for a long time a week or so ago, its now £729 in their 'mega sale'. I've bought a lot from them in the past but refuse to now as Planet x prices are ridiculus, every sale they have they put the prices up first, its not a business practice that needs encouraging.

Frame-only at £730. Hmmm - again no Ti competitors (Kenesis Tripster is £1350). If only Mason Cycles would hurry up with their CX bike.

The Sonder (Alpkit) has the same fork, frame is a bit heavier and has cables on the down tube rather than top-tube. The Sonder has mounts on the frame to take full guards but (typically) dont have any on the fork.

you expect a Ti mason to be cheaper than the Alpkit or even Kinesis!? The Alu Mason frame is £900!

I'm not the OP, but no, personally I don't care about Ti/Alu/Steel as long as I like the ride.

Ritchey Swisscross disc would be a good alternative.

If you want guard mounts, then the Singular Kite looks decent.

Another option that look awesome (but aren't big enough for me) is the Bowman Pilgrims.

Would the Bowman FOOTS CRAY be a bit more like the Pick?

Steel is too lardy. Ideally want carbon but don't want to stump up the price of an OPEN U.P.
The whole TI thing isn't important but they get good review so considering one.

the pilgrim is a bit Meh, I'm sure it's a great frame but it doesn't do anything for me.

If I go for steel it will probably a cheap as chips eBay charge 5 to get me rolling while the market start to release more of these sort of frames.

Yeh, that's what I thought. The Ritchey is sub 2kg for the frame, the fork is also very light though. Plus they look mint and the geo seems a bit "tighter" than the On One.

Another friend also has a Pick as a Road/Gravel bike and also likes it.
His is de-stickered (or maybe they were never put on) with some lovely component details and looks very classy indeed.

There are loads of these sorts of frames. They're called CX race frames.

Geometry is key with me. I'm 5.10 with a 33 inch inside leg and short arms. I look like a T-Rex on the wrong bike.
Most cross bikes have short HT's so forced to use a stack of spacer and a flipped stem. Or a huge drop - not nice.
The newer gravel frames tend to have a lighter HT.
I even considered a mango AR until they told me the alloy frame a fork are 2.8 kg ..........

Get the Tange Prestige Charge and spend the remaining £500 on coke and hookers.

Obviously

Considering it, but annoying that most forks that fit cost more than the frame.

I like mine. Had it since early 2014. Mostly used as a best road bike with nice wheels, but also gravel FC roads when on holiday and the other bikes is at home. Got a Chinese Ti seatpin in 27.2 with alloy shim. Nicer ride than the original fat alloy one. So easy to clean, I use discarded waning up pads. The green side brings any stains out nicely.

Holy crap. Just got a knock on the door and the frame has arrived. 17 hours after my order.

For the weight conscious.
Medium Frame with seat clamp, mech hanger and cage bolts was 1702 grams.
The uncut fork with steel caliper bolts was 500g.

This isn't going to be a WW build but Planet X weights are usually unreliable so thought I'd add this to the post.

Yep - so in this instance the weight on the site (for large) must be pretty accurate.
Good to know. I think this time next year, I'll be due a new CX bike (current bike 5 years old). The Pick will be high on the list, but I'm sure other options will appear too.
