After smashing my old phone I should probably take care of it’s replacement 😬

Is otter box still the norm?

The otter box defender series is good. Masses of drop protection and covered or open screen options. Only downside is you phone grows in size by quite a bit. No good if it’s already tight in a pocket!
Also look at life proof m. They offer varying levels of protection but the fully dust/waterproof/snowproof options do make it difficult for people to hear you speak on the phone as it’s very well sealed.
I’m a stone mason and dust/dirt is the biggest problem. It always finds its way in and once under the screen or back protector it can cause scratching by rubbing so something to be aware of

I've had a Spigen one since I got this phone, and it's survived a good few whacks. You need a separate screen protector for the one I have, but that came pre installed with the phone. Probably not as much protection as an Otterbox but not as clunky either.

OtterBox Symmetry is also very good but less bulky than the Defender
