tried moving the bb to take up some tension but unable to move so stripped down and removed this years filth so its all cleaned up now should I be greasing the shell that fits in the frame(titanium)
I used finish line titanium anti-seize on my swift. I reasoned that I don't want it to stick but then I don't want something that is there to assist movement. If you see what I mean.
same problem here Johnny I want it to move when I adjust but not to when the bolts are pinched up, been noise free so far with no lubrication!
Would carbon assembly paste not work for you then?
On BikemongerCharlie's advice I cleaned the new type one on my SIR.9 with meths before assembly. It's never made a sound.
Niner suggest a plumbing paste. It's a gritty paste thingy... Keeps them creak free. Works so far.
Bearing type grease or copperslip work well for mine
Is that in a Ti frame though!
Rich, i am the origional owner of your frame.Last time i had it serviced at sideways, Tim used phil wood water proof grease to lube the bb shell. It was totally silent and only moved when i wanted it to right up till i sold it.Hope this helps and enjoy your damn fine frame ๐
Thank You!
The Phil Wood stuff is lovely.
I've used RJ-66 (some sort of industrial coppaslip) in the past.
Never heard the meths thing. Will have to give that a try next time.
