Is it worth replacing the BB (£45 + £10 tool) or just getting an adapter back to BSA? (any suggestions?)
It's a nice chainset (E-13 TRS), but was the only thing I didn't like when buying the bike & 4 months (admittedly really crap conditions) in I need a new BB.
I got through 4x PF30s in 6 months last year, replaced under warranty,
SRAM eventually switched me to the BSA adaptors and GXP bb which lasted a good while,
bought a PF30 for these dry conditions as the GXP was dead, tried to remove the GXP plus adaptor and it was stuck fast, the bearings from the GXP pinged out and they was nothing to grip to remove it, took it to a bike shop who used a headset removal tool,
also the adaptor shifted slightly and I had to use it with part of the drive side adaptor cup actually 1mm out of the BB shell,
All in all PF30 with whatever set up is a pile of crap,
I have decided less parts = less things to go wrong, so have gone back to the PF30 and BB30 cranks and will live with the fact that I will have to change the BB every couple of months,
PS I also tried the Wheels Manufacturing adaptors to run a Shimano crank and they just increased the wear problem, should be embarrassed to call themselves engineers.
