Anyone got a recommendation for one that they've used? That will be reasonable easy to replace the bearing in, when they do fail again..
..As foretold on here (after I bought it!), my SRAM BB has failed & considering it a couple of piece of plastic has been a ****ing nitemare to get out this morning. I had a couple of 6806 bearings lying around so stuffed them into it and put it back on, with load of grease so hopefully it come out again ok...
To put it mildly the plastic was a bit worse for wear after removal, so I doubt it going to be re-usable again 😯
PS: I don't want a converter.. as buying a new crankset cause a BB failed doesn't really make sense
Been a few threads on this of late I think. Very happy with my Praxis Works so far.
Looking at the Praxis site, their M30 PF30 BB uses external bearings, I can't see it being compatible with my SRAM crankset. What crankset are you using Warns?
Using XT cranks, but thought (could be wrong) they catered for SRAM too?
Not going by their website, their PF30 BB is for "M30 Spindle based cranks only". Which I assume must be longer than SRAM's effort
Sorry, this is not something I'm well versed in, (as you can tell), in fact when I was looking it was a flipping minefield! Are you sure all the BB options are for "M30"? They have an M30 option in their products list but the one I bought was a "conversion BB"
That's all I can find on their website, though websites aren't always upto date... I be more than happy for some-one to tell me I'm wrong & point in the right direction
Recently been through this, it boiled down to - 1) New Shimano cranks (that come with BB) and adaptor or 2) Suck it up and just keep replacing the cheap SRAM one.
I went with option 2, simply because I've another bike now with ext. BB which I'll be putting all the winter miles on. I think what I'm trying to say is don't discount accepting that the cheap SRAM PF30 BBs are a bit cack.
Yeah the price of a new SRAM one isn't that far off the cost of a new set of branded bearings, so I am tempted to go down that route. Though do wonder if SRAM BB bearings would last as long as a branded set. Searching though other threads, Gussets PF30 BB for £35 looks like it the best of a bad lot otherwise, without spending silly amounts on a Chris King BB or Hope 46 BB (and I'd want the tool [HTTPF] & the required adapter [HTT185] so up to CK money!).
