Dear all, I'm looking for a bike lock that I can attached to my bike whilst I'm riding around town and that is reasonably strong. I use a cable lock at the moment that cost around £2 so it obviously isn't the strongest. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

you might as well use string instead of a cable lock for all the good it will do
my kryptonite mini evo fits in a pocket or tucks into your belt when you're wearing your gf's jeans, and comes with frame bracket. The onguard mini pitbull is 23 quid at wheelies and is also recommended by hipsters:

I understand that a cable lock is next to useless, but I still think it is a deterrent for an opportunist theif, so better than nothing. When you have a very basic hack for going round town a cable lock that wraps around the handlebar is so convenient it has to be useful. Therefore, I'm looking for a lock with similar properties but with somewhat improved security.
I use a Master cable lock for my SS commuter/hack bike. Its easy enough to carry around in my rucksack and does the job for a bike that isn't particularly high profile enough to attract the thieves*
My decent bikes aren't out of sight ever.
*having said that, someone stole my old hack/commuter, Christ knows why as it was completely fubar'd and nothing worked properly. I was about to scrap it at the end of the month!
I use a kryptonite cable & mini disc lock for going to shops, this one has a bigger (still not big) u-lock & would be better, it comes with a frame mount for the u-lock. The on-guard one recommended above is better, I have one, but is fairly weighty - comes with a frame mount.
At worst just get the kryptonite cable & a padlock of repute
Cable lock plus slacken the wheel skewers and shift into big/big and knock the shifters into small front/small rear without pedalling so if anyone does manage to cut the cable and attempt a pedal away they will end up on their face in public as the chain jams up and the wheels wobble, or remove the front wheel skewer altogether and cable lock the wheel to the bike/bollard.
