We decided to go ride QE Park on the South Downs last night as we havent been there for a while. One of our guys was at a demo day there a few weeks back and got shown some new trails so we decided to check them out - and they are great!

So, perfect weather, dry fast trails, new twisty singletrack that can be ridden FAST. Then another guy who had joined us showed us a nice short-n-steep track which we rode a couple of times - twisty between trees on loose pine needles and leaves type stuff which was good.

THEN, as we were heading over towards the pub, we noticed a trail crossing the track we were on. It just happens we were on the wrong track, so would never have found this otherwise. We follow it down, fast, steep, twisty to the bottom and come across another biker who has lost his mates. After a quick chat (we couldnt help much but he had a walki talkie and was in contact) we found our way out of the woods just up the road from the pub - result!

So a quick beer and back up the hill. After a quick play in the swoopy bit

we go back to the start of the new trail and head up. Its too steep to ride, but we know where it starts from now so theres a good excuse to head back soon and ride the full length 🙂

Then its all downhill back to the van where I have a stash of beer,

followed by a quick drive to Waterlooville for kebabs and more beer.

Thats the way it should be done
😀

Yeah, thats confused me too. It always worked before but the links have 'newimages@' rather than the 'images@' bit. I'll try and fix it later.

The pics are here if you can be bothered to click to look. They are a little grainy as I compressed them a bit too much before uploading - the originals are better. I'm quite pleased with a couple of the night shots considering I only have a 5-year old olympus mju pointy shooty thing 😕

to be fair it's not really a night ride, more a pub crawl with bikes 🙂

Nah, that was one less pub than our usual minimum. Proper pub crawl rides include a minumum of seven pubs.

I have found, though, that generally cycling in the New Forest is vastly more invigorating when intoxicated. So I'll often have a couple before I start too 🙂
