I am heading out for me first blast round the Pentlands tomorrow night and was wondering if anyone fancies joining me to show me the ropes. Never rode any of the Pentlands and looking for help finding the good bits.
Also looking for the best route from the Gyle to the foot of the hills. Did look at going via Gogarburn, through Currie and Balerno and to the foot of the hills but its all a road run. any good trails/canal paths I can use?
See the bike chain thread. Am not aware of any paths trails to help you get there.

Cheers Al. saw that post but cant make tonight. Going to try and join you guys at some point over the next few weeks. Was looking for someone to show me about on thursday if anyone is about?
Oh sorry I was being slow & got my days mixed up.
If I weren't off south for the weekender I'd have been up for a familiarisation ride...
Looking rather wet tomorrow 'mind, 'political correctness' will be raising it's head again (as in keeping to the resilient parts, of which there are a few)
