Hi Folks, not been up the Pentlands for many many years, thought I would try from the Flotterstone end and go up Turnhouse and Carnethy and back down the valley, is that a good trail or will I die... Will I need to watch out for ‘lambs on’t trail’ up there.
Any other trail tips would be good. I used to go from the Balerno end and down the valley and then up and over Maidens and back along the waters side.
that's a helluva steep climb and I don't know what it'll be like on the tops, maybe pretty wet still. Have a look on strava to see popular routes in the Pentlands. Yep there are loads of lambs about at the moment, avoid the area between Harbour hill and Bonaly woods if you can (trail known as scalextric), the farmers are having bad enough problems with dog attacks this year without bikers chasing lambs about.
