Off to centre parcs ( windfell forest ) near Penrith tomos, any xc routes that aren't to far as i'm carless and would need to cycle from centre parcs to anywhere, also bringing a new rider along so nothing too tough. Cheers in advance.

Head to Askham and then explore the BWs over towards Ullswater.
See here - Centreparcs is in the NE corner of the map.

One thing to bear in mind is that it is quite a trog to Askham from Center Parcs and that there will be climbs to get up to the fell - you can either drop down to Pooley Bridge or explore parts of High Street. To get back to the A6 and then toward Center Parcs will also involve a climb. I just thought I'd flag this up with the new rider in tow. On the upside Abbott Lodge Jersey Ice Cream farm is en-route between CP and Askham (Melkinthorpe).

i dunno where CP is, but, you can ride out of Penrith and pick up High Street dropping down into Troutbeck, and get the train back From Oxenholme (via Windermere if need be), a long high level route
