PEAKS POOTLE: DECEM...

Hi everybody,
I have been a long time snooper here on the forum, and think it is time to get involved. Really like the idea of the pootle, I love the Peak District and the surrounding area. Just a quick question. Is the pootle more biased to cake (ideal) or serious fitness? Not been out for a while and don't fancy being the wheezing pit pony hold the rest up?

More cake bias. With some riding!

I think the average speed of the last one came out around 4mph, if I recall correctly. You could pretty much walk the entire thing at a brisk pace and not get left behind. So: cake-biased...

I'm out, just been informed that a lady is taking me away for the weekend for my birfday. You'll have to find a volunteer to cover themselves in bazooka joe fake tattoos, ride a singlespeed (badly) and make juvenile knob gags and have more innuendo that the bastard love child of sid james and frankie howard.

love and hugs

If you supply the bazooka joe tattoos, I can do that, the rest of it sounds like me already

nbt - mintimperial is looking on in disgust at that typical STWer pose.

Pook - Is it too early for a head count?

Gutted that I'm still not mended enough to ride ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Looks like that's two of us nbt. Off-colour and low-brow humour are specialities. I foresee a vortex of low-tone heading across the Hope Valley on 1 December.

You dont want to be holding the gates and counting for that lot so the race for the front will not be one i will be trying to compete in - gets excuses in early ๐Ÿ˜‰

More importantly who is doing the cakes?
Mine will be vegan and I will do three lots
Pineapple upside cake - well I have to dont I
Something with chocolate - well I have to

Anyone gluten intolerant ? I can do some banana bread for them?
Any requests?

In my experience only, about, 25% turn up on the day.
Shall we take bets?

When we say 'turn up on the day' do we mean in the literal or metaphorical sense? If the later, for a pootle the number is generally nearer the 5% mark

5%? Isn't that about 3.6 people?

Curious to know who the 0.6 of a person will be.

I was going to bake mini-victoria sponges but looking at the attendance list that would require cottage-industrial organisation.

What about x 3 cakes, 30+ sarni bags and a large knife??

EDIT: x6 cakes with 70+ sarni bags ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Is there a meeting time/place decided yet?
Or is that buried in the depths of Page 4 and I actually have to read all that?!

Wow! We had a night ride a couple of months back with a turnout of 18, and we thought that was a lot to manage!
We'll be out in the Hayfield area do we probably won't cross paths, but will keep an eye out for such a big crowd on the horizon!

Toxicsoks that picture made me giggle.

Pook, is mrs Bowie278's dad allowed to come? He's been out of action for a few months but has a new steed and now wants to tackle the world on it!

I wouldn't worry about numbers, it usually starts off with a large amount of mtbers and within 3 minutes (this is true) at least half of them have turned the wrong direction and just keep on going ๐Ÿ™‚

Having not been on a pootle before what's the etiquette with names? Personally you can call me whatever you want, but do people generally use when you only know each other from a forum? I just envisage not knowing who anyone (bar the odd one or two) is and getting flustered trying to rember whos who when everyone could have two names

Ok, so I wont get flustered I will ride my bike and eat cake and hopefully not offend anyone ๐Ÿ™‚

Proper going to miss you BH!! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

@ adjustable: I'm +1 on that score! Name badges maybe?.... I bumped in to Hora the other week & had absolutely no idea it was him until the bf told me! Yes, I know, I was lucky not to be alone ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
No, I joke.... He was dead nice & genuine ๐Ÿ˜€

Look at it the other way. If everyone has two names, you've twice as much change of remembering at least one of them.
