PEAKS POOTLE: DECEMBER 1ST, 10AM – Page 11 – Bike Forum

So, after a long break there's going to be another Peaks Pootle on December 1st, starting at 10am in either the Hope, Derwent or Edale Valleys. I'll decide that and the route later. As always, it'll be a 15mile ish ride around some trails in the Dark Peak with the emphasis on the social side of things, so.... [i]1) if you're fast, hold the gates and count the folks through 2) if you're slow - have something to talk about with the other 20 people with you 3) bring cake Pootles aren't a typical 'group ride'. I started them 'cos I hated being the person at the back. I wanted a group ride for the people at the back. There aren't any people at the back in a pootle.[/i] Typical pootle traditions shall be upheld i.e. there will be cake, there will be banter, and there will be a pint after in a pleasant pub to warm those toes! My efforts at videoing the fun were mainly pants – either the sun was too bright (!), mud on the camera, too much wobble or just pressed the wrong button!

Here is a few minutes - hopefully enough to remind you of a great pootle,

@ dazh. Wow. Would love to see your ride route/stats for that day.

101km, 2100m climbing, total moving time of 7hrs 7min.

Route was basically a combination of the pootle and the Jacobs/Roych loop from Hayfield with a bit of extra to Hayfield and back. I bailed out on to the A6 on the way back as I couldn't face climbing another hill after Hayfield so was a bit annoyed with myself.
