Alarmingly I'm somewhere in that video but I don't remember anything about it. Let alone what was in the package back in 2011... makes you think. Anyway, possibly.

Have I not spotted the date or haven't you mentioned when it's likely to be? I could be tempted to venture off-road for the first time in 18 months or so.

But will we spend 20mins fixing someones puncture only to find the're not part of the group?

Bloody hell, haven't you lot got friends or something?

Does reading peoples posts count?

The half hour looking for a dropped Garmin that had already been found was a highlight for me

Anyone fancy a little ride on the 22nd?

A little ride as a warm up or the proper peaks pootle ?

Pootle:

Hayfield, 22nd January, 9am

Car park at the end of the Sett Valley trail.

As always, it'll be a 15mile ish ride around some trails in the Dark Peak with the emphasis on the social side of things, so....

1) if you're fast, hold the gates and count the folks through
2) if you're slow - have something to talk about with the other 20 people with you
3) bring cake
Pootles aren't a typical 'group ride'. I started them 'cos I hated being the person at the back. I wanted a group ride for the people at the back. There aren't any people at the back in a pootle.

Typical pootle traditions shall be upheld i.e. there will be cake, there will be banter, and there will be a pint after in a pleasant pub to warm those toes!

It's been a while, but what can i say, i've missed doing it.

I was already going to have a run around Hayfield next Sunday , but would love to tag along with like minded gate holders

I can't make it 'cos we'll be up at Strathpuffer.

Can I recommend either the Packhorse or the Sportsman for post ride drinks though.

I'm not falling for that one again. Maybe we need membership badges or something.

Would love to have made it and finally met some of you, but already committed elsewhere.

I hope it's dry for you, and look forward to the reports back

You don't have to be well enough, it's a pootle. It's intended for the sick, lame and lazy. I'm going.

I'm thinking more of not infecting the innocent - grim post-festive hacking horror cough/cold thing 🙁

Just ride with 'em. The snogging isn't compulsory, despite what nbt will try to tell you.

do you wear a badge with your forum handle in or do you just spend the whole ride asking 'who are you then?' and saying 'hi I am...' ?

When I've been it's been a case of just pottering ( pootling ) along, introducing yourself by first name, asking their forum name but forgetting that and just carrying on calling them their first name so, when you come back on here, you can't remember who you have met

Just up the Sett Valley Trail from my house. I've been off work for 4 months and filling my spare time with biking on my own. Training for a(nother) huge bike ride in the summer...... I might be tempted to come and annoy some people for a bit.
