HI, can any locals tell me if it's possible to ride up Abbey Bank from the side of Derwent Reservoir over Back Tor to the BW at the back of Strines pub, there are permissive tracks on my map but don't know if they exist or are passable?
thanks in advance for any help.
Rik

It's footpath/red sock central there and the track up isn't the best anyway. The BW from strines end only runs as far as the county boundary too then it's FP on the edge.
I don't think there's any other permissive paths up there - I've certainly never regarded those shown on the 1:50k as such - they're grassy, often indistinct paths.

I've come down it, you'll be pushing up Abbey bank as it's unridable and green stitches is a swamp

Add to that the local ranger lives just up there and you're heading for a crap ride and someone shouting at you
