I saw one of these in Evans yesterday whilst buying bar tape. I just want to highlight that I have absolutely no interest in buying or riding the thing, but I am curious from an academic point of view. Has anyone ridden one? What's it like? What would you do with it, other than pose whilst going to the shops?

Surely it only exists to accessorise your huge bushy hipster beard and waxed moustache?

My boss has one, he uses it to go to the shops and generally pootling around town. It's not fast but he really enjoys riding it.

I used to do a commute that was pretty flat, took me 15 minutes at easy pace, done in my work clothes unless it was really seriously wet.

I usually used my Brompton or Big Dummy, but if I didn't have those 'uns, a Guvnor might have made the list. I often saw another chap riding one, which may have helped.

MrsDummy had a Pashley Princess - wonderful thing to ride slowly on the flat.

Robust, mechanically simple, built for comfort and rough surfaces.

Could do with mudguards though.

A colleague of mine has ridden from London to the French Alps, twice, on a Guvnor with three other blokes, but completely self supported.
I believe that one or two of the SA hubs suffered in the Alps, but apart from that they were fine.

I thought about one for bimbling about the village and work on. Agree with above about needing guards though. Doesn't it's existence precede hipsters?

I saw one on the rack of a car parked in S. Cornwall (Lerryn?) at the weekend. I was either very well maintained or had had very little use.

Woody's "fenders" are popular for those among us who feel the need for such things.
