SO wants to see a friend in Kent and i thought i could drop her off and catch a cheap ferry to Calais for a day or two. I have wandered the coast before and it is actually a nice coast line to walk,

But what is it like for cycling. Road or MTB? I am not after trail centres, boardwalks, rock gardens etc. Just after somewhere to get away from it all and cover some miles. Are there "bridleways" (i know the laws are different) are there quite country lanes hills, etc.

Why not just go for a ride around Kent?

Nice riding.
Forgive the spellings but. We ride down the D940 to Boulogne-Sur-Mer. Then inland towards Belle De Houllefort, up through Boursin then a mad dash back to Calais. Stock up on pastries and ferry home.

Because it is full of english drivers? and if i have a choice i would rather ride anywhere but England. Kent is a long way from me, calais is somewhere i haven't ridden, isn't much further and am curious if it is worth making the effort.

Yes worth the effort just to experience other road users that give a damn about you..
I think that road we use is the old main coastal road, so it's pretty quiet.
If you're going to be gentlemenly about it. stop for dinner in Boulogne.

Weve got a ferry to Calais a few times and cycled through Sangatte and around the coastline. Its fantastic when the weathers nice.

Cycled on road a fair bit and it's lovely. Out of Calais over some big hill with an observation point and then through a bit called the "7 Valleys".

Quiet roads and nothing but cheers and encouragement from French drivers as you go up the hills.

It's a world away from the UK when it come to attitude.
